The DICOM redactor allows pixel data to be redacted for specific regions based on tag details.
The DICOM redactor can be used for blanking out the banner in an US image to obscure the demographics for either anonymization purposes or because the demographics were wrong. There are a number of schemes deployed to detect the region to redact based on the contents of the DICOM header. The redactor can also be used with DEXA to remove details from secondary capture reports.
This facility is useful for when a worklist error is made and the wrong patient details are “burned in” to the image data from some modalities. It is also used in combination with the anonymisation node for removing details from images that are to be used for teaching .
