The flexibility in storage options and the use of standard (rather than proprietary) files types for the storage of data provides research departments with a powerful tool for storing imaging data and retrieving it for analysis.  The ability to modify and to import various file formats and convert it to a standard file type and the open nature of the solution allows researchers unlimited access and integration options.  Multiple stores can be configured to allow for separation between projects or departments whilst allowing for the sharing of data across the different stores.  The SQL database in the background allows researchers to mine for information using custom designed queries.  In cases where there are systems that don’t wholly support DICOM, Pukka-j provide an option to zip of a folder of non-DICOM information and put this in DICOM wrapper to store this information with the imaging data on the server and to extract it back to a workstation.  Together with anonymisation and integration solutions, the Pukka-j Research Solution can provide a hub of imaging and non-imaging information, for storage, analysis and distribution.
